Block Calorimeter Bundle
Block Calorimeter Bundle
Product code: HE1580926
Product Description
This can be used for the experimental determination of the specific heat capacity of various metals. Cylindrical blocks, all of mass 1kg adjusted to an accuracy of +2%.
Includes four block calorimeters:
- 1 x Copper
- 1 x Mild Steel
- 1 x Aluminium
- 1 x Brass
Each block is drilled with two holes: a large central hole, 12.5mm diameter (75mm deep) for an Immersion Heater (B8A42584), and a smaller hole, 7.5mm diameter (72mm deep) to suit a thermometer or temperature sensor.
Each Calorimeter is also available to purchase separately.
Associated Products:
- Calorimeter Jackets - B8R07701: 50mm, B8R07701: 75mm
- Immersion Heater - B8A42584
- Thermometers - B8R01905
- Key Stage 3 Physics - Energy: Comparing amounts of energy transferred (J, kJ, kW hour)
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Structure of Matter: Calculating energy changes involved on heating, using specific heat capacity; and those involved in changes of state, using specific latent heat.
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Energy: Energy changes in a system involving heating, doing work using forces, or doing work using an electric current: calculating the stored energies and energy changes involved. Power as the rate of transfer of energy.
- A few drops of water should be added to the Calorimeter thermometer hole to ensure good contact between the thermometer.
