Philip Harris Whitley Bay Smoke Cell

Philip Harris Whitley Bay Smoke Cell

HE1008267

Product code: HE1008267

Brownian Motion is the random movement of microscopic particles suspended in liquids or gases resulting from the impact of molecules of the surrounding medium.

The Whitley Bay Smoke Cell allows observation of 'Brownian Motion' in smoke particles. Consists of a box with a plastic lid with flanges that allow easy attachment to microscopes which have at least 20mm clearance between the stage and the end of the 10X objective. The box contains a smoke cell, cylindrical condensing lens and a 12 volt LED bulb. Apparatus pre-set to focus the light at the correct height. The set is supplied with detailed instructions and a squeeze bottle type smoke generator.

  • Dimensions: Base: 100mm x 60mm, Overall Height: 20mm, Smoke Cell Box: 60mm x 60mm

A 12V DC Power Supply and connecting leads are also required.

  • GCSE Chemistry - Brownian Motion
  • A2 Physics - Further Mechanics and Thermal Physics: Molecular Kinetic Theory Model - Brownian motion as evidence for existence of atoms.
