About the Authors

Kaye Haywood is the Deputy Head Teacher of Trevithick Primary School and the Lead Teacher for the ‘Talk for Writing’ pilot. Kaye trains other teachers in ‘Talk for Writing’ and Trevithick Primary School has been selected as a Department for Education 'Writing School'.

Sean Powers is the Head Teacher of Trevithick Primary School. He has been working with Pie Corbett since 2000. Trevithick Primary School serves a local community which has high levels of deprivation and under Sean's leadership, SATs results have improved from 40% to 90%.

Pie Corbett has written over 250 books and resources for teachers and children. He is considered a key figure in primary English and is known in every primary school. He has worked as a Head Teacher, School Inspector and Teacher Trainer as well as leading research projects, working for the BBC and the National Strategy. He currently works freelance helping schools improve the teaching of writing.

Pie won the ERA for Best Primary Resource with ‘The Story Maker's Chest’ in 2005 and was short-listed for ERA awards in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
