World Book Day is just around the corner so it's time to get children of all ages together and encourage them to find pleasure in reading. We know it can be tricky thinking of new and exciting ways to engage the school year after year so we've been busy putting together some FREE printable resources you can use.
World Book Day Bingo
Can your class can recognise front covers under pressure?
Download and print off the Bingo Calling Cards and cut along the dotted lines. Once complete pop them all into a box or bag so they can’t be seen.
We've provided 6 different Bingo Cards, print off however many you need for your class or school. It may be nice to work in teams depending on the age of the children involved.
The first person or team to get a line and then a full house wins, it’s as simple as that!
We'll leave the prizes up to you to decide!
Match the Character to the Description
It's time to put your student's knowledge to the test!
We had great fun finding descriptions of some of our favourite characters, it was difficult to narrow it down to these 6.
All your class need to do for this World Book Day activity is read the character descriptions and match them to the images.
You could even ask your students to read a description they've found to the rest of the class and ask them who is it they're describing.
Create Your Own Front Cover and Blurb
Let’s get creative.
Using this blank template your class can design their very own front cover and blurb, there's even a space for them to write their name as the author of the book.
Why not give them a genre or even the beginning of a story to help them on their way? You could even ask them to relate it back to a topic you have been covering recently.
This is a resource that can be used time and time again, not just this World Book Day.
We'd love to see your creations so be sure to post them on our Facebook page.
