Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions of sale shall be deemed to be incorporated in the contract between Hope Education and the UK customer. They apply only to UK customers (excluding Channel Islands and BFPO's).
1. DESCRIPTION
Hope Education is continually seeking to improve the quality and value of its goods and
services. Whilst we take every care to ensure illustrations and descriptions within the
catalogue are accurate (errors and omissions excepted) and informative, we do reserve
the right to change specifications or improve our products. In the event of any substituted
product not being acceptable, we will gladly issue a full credit, provided the goods in question
are returned within 5 working days of delivery (please note prior authorisation is required
– see return of goods section below) and in an “as new” re-saleable condition. If original
transportation packing is not available then the item(s) are not damaged when returned.
2. PRICES
(i) Prices quoted supersede all previous prices. We aim to hold all prices fixed (errors and
omissions excepted) until 31/12/2010 but exceptionally volatile raw material costs may
affect a few products this year. You will be advised of any increase prior to despatch. (ii)
All price reductions refer to the entire Hope 2010 main catalogue range when compared to
2009 prices. (iii) Products featured in the Price Check section have been compared against
YPO main catalogue 2009, Consortium main April 2009 – March 2010 catalogue and TTS 2009
Compendium catalogue. All price comparisons are correct as at 19th October 2009. We aim to
make a fair comparison and endeavour to compare equivalent products. If a price could not be
found in the same size we may have used a nearest size and converted the price pro-rata. (iv) Web prices apply to UK customers only excluding Channel Islands and BFPO's). 3. VALUE ADDED TAX
VAT at the appropriate rate will be added to all prices where applicable including carriage and
packing charges (LEA schools please note that your Education Authority will credit you with the
whole of the tax paid on receipt of the appropriate forms).
4. AVAILABILITY
If an item ordered is out of stock, we will inform you and endeavour to supply the item as
soon as possible. Goods in this catalogue are subject to availability. On occasion goods will be
discontinued for reasons beyond our control. We reserve the right to withdraw an item where
a print error has occurred.
5. PAYMENT/CREDIT
Where credit is given payment for goods supplied is due within 30 days from the invoice date.
Hope Education reserve the right to charge interest at 8% above Bank of England base rate on
all overdue amounts and the customer will be liable for all legal costs.
6. NEW CUSTOMERS AND NON ACCOUNT HOLDERS
Goods can be supplied on a cash/cheque with order basis or through major credit, debit and charge cards; 30 days FREE credit is available subject to status. We may consult a credit reference agency.
7. PASSING OF PROPERTY
The risk in the products supplied shall pass to the buyer on delivery into the buyer's possession or to the carrier or place of delivery nominated by the buyer, and Hope shall be under no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage occurring thereafter.
8. RETENTION OF TITLE
Ownership (title) of the goods only passes to the purchaser on full payment of the appropriate invoice.
9. CARRIAGE AND DELIVERY (UK CUSTOMERS)
(i) All orders will be delivered FREE of charge providing order value for each order is £250 or
more (excluding VAT). Some large furniture items may attract an additional delivery charge.
(ii) Orders under £250 (excluding VAT) will carry a delivery charge of £6.95.
(iii) Where delivery is required urgently, we have an Express Service. The charge for carriage
and packing will be £9.95 (plus VAT) irrespective of order size.
10. EXPRESS DELIVERY
Your order will be processed immediately upon receipt and despatched the same day on a 24
hour delivery service. This service is strictly subject to stock availability. Please call 08451 20
20 55 before 11.00am and specify that you require the HOPE EXPRESS service (UK Mainland
only), we regret that furniture, large items and direct supply items cannot be despatched by
Hope Express Service.
11. DIRECT DESPATCH
Please note that certain items may come from the manufacturer and may take up to 21
working days to despatch. Some items are also manufactured at the point of order and may
take 4 – 6 weeks. In both instances such items will be identified throughout the catalogue.
12. DELIVERY
For orders placed before 4pm Monday to Friday, Hope Education will deliver within 2-4
working days. This is only for items in stock, excludes direct delivery items and 2 man delivery
items may take longer. (i) Under no circumstances does Hope Education accept liability for any
loss, damages or expenses arising from the late delivery of goods by Hope, its agents or its
agent’s carriers due to any cause whatsoever. At times Hope may advise delivery time or date
of despatch or delivery date which is an estimate only and should not be relied upon. Hope
will however do its utmost to achieve delivery dates specified as far as it is within it’s power
to do so. Please note that with furniture and other large items the price quoted is for delivery
to ground floor. An additional charge may be levied by direct suppliers for deliveries within a
specified timeframe e.g. 9am – 1pm should you have a particular delivery requirement please
enquire before placing your order. (ii) Certain items such as large furniture require special
handling and may take longer to deliver. Two man delivery teams will carry larger items
to where you need them. They are clearly indicated in our catalogue but unfortunately not
available for Express Delivery. (iii) Where furniture items feature the package removal icon all
waste will be removed on delivery.
13. PROOF OF DELIVERY
A signed proof of delivery document will be available from Hope for a period of 90 days from
date on invoice. After this period, Hope Education may refuse such request for proof of delivery
or impose a charge for its supply. In any event after this period the buyer shall be liable for
payment of monies due in respect of the goods supplied.
14. NOTICE OF DAMAGE / INCORRECT DELIVERY / MISSING ORDERS
If upon receipt your goods are damaged, incomplete, incorrect or short delivered notification
must be made within 5 working days of delivery. For non delivery of goods notification should
be made within 7 days of the invoice date. Claims outside this period will not be accepted.
Goods should not be returned without prior authorisation and you must quote your account
number and relevant reference number.
15. REFUSED DELIVERY
We reserve the right to make a carriage charge plus a 20% handling charge, or minimum of
£10 whichever is greater, on all consignments that are refused without reason.
16. RETURN OF GOODS
(i) Hope product guarantee relates to the quality, durability and relative fitness for purpose
during the first twelve months after delivery. Any products returned will be assessed by our
Quality Control department before any compensation is given. If we find no fault with the
item(s) then no refund will be issued and we reserve the right to charge a 20% handling fee
or minimum of £10 whichever is greater plus recover any delivery charges incurred.
(ii) Where an item is faulty, we reserve the right to repair or replace. If this is not possible, a
credit will be issued.
(iii) Goods deemed no longer required due to an ordering error or surplus to requirements
may be considered for return providing prior authorisation is obtained and goods are returned
in a re-saleable condition, in the original packaging and within the first calendar month
following despatch. Notification should be within 5 days of delivery and where authorisation
is obtained a 20% handling charge or minimum of £10 whichever is greater will be charged.
Hope will not accept returned goods without prior authorisation or in a non-saleable condition
– in such cases goods must be paid for in full by the customer and the standard handling fee
(above) will be charged along with any delivery fees incurred. Self assembly items cannot be
returned if they have been assembled.
(iiii) For special orders or direct delivery it may not be possible to return goods and Hope will
invoice the full amount.
17. FORCE MAJEURE
The seller shall not be liable to the buyer for failure to perform or delay in performing any of their contractual obligations when this is caused by circumstances beyond their reasonable control.
18. CALLS MAY BE RECORDED
Calls may be recorded and monitored to improve the service offered or for training purposes.
19. DATA PROTECTION
Hope Education is a registered data user under the Data Protection Act. We never make your
personal details available to other companies for marketing purposes other than for the
marketing of Hope goods and services. We (and our parent company) may hold your personal
details in order to process your order and/or maintain your account. We (and our parent
company) may also use your details to send you further information on Hope goods and
services, to keep you up to date on goods, services, new products and promotional offers you
may be interested in or for research purposes. If you prefer not to receive such information or

21. DISPOSAL OF WASTE ELECTRICAL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT - WEEE DIRECTIVE
The United Kingdom is under an obligation to minimise the disposal of Electrical and Electronic Waste Equipment (WEEE) in domestic waste, and to encourage recycling, recovery and environmental sound disposal methods, Hope Education is committed to promoting the re-use, recycling and recovery of WEEE product by contributing to VALPAK compliance scheme. 22. 10 YEAR GUARANTEE
Certain items of Galt furniture products have an extended 10 year guarantee. These are
indicated by the 10 year logo and it applies to functional furniture. It specifically relates to the
quality of the wood, hinges and lock, and excludes ancillary items such as trays and moving
parts (castors). Please note that the same items from previous years may not have been
covered by the guarantee at that time.
23. £100 SERVICE SATISFACTION
In the unlikely event that our service falls below our high standards and we are unable to rectify this to your satisfaction, then you will need to make a formal request in writing for the £100 voucher. Your dispute will be assessed and vouchers will be issued at our discretion.
24. £250 PRIZE DRAW
Terms and conditions:
1) Customers will automatically be entered when you place your next order.
2) All entrants to the prize draw will be collated until the closing date of 31/08/2010.
3) Only one entry will be counted per establishment.
4) The prize draw is only applicable to customers that Hope Education has recently contacted regarding the prize draw.
5) Employees of Hope Education and its subsidiary companies are not eligible to enter.
6) The winner will be picked on 14/09/2010 and will be notified within 28 days.
7) The winners name will be available upon request after the prize draw by writing to Hope Education, HydeBuildings, Ashton Road, Hyde, Cheshire, SK14 4SH.
8) We reserve the right to publish the winner’s name and photograph in future promotions.
9) The judge’s decision is final and any correspondence entered will not be taken into consideration regarding the prize draw. 10) The £250 prize will be sent to the winner in the form of a voucher, to be spent on Hope Education resources.

25. MANUFACTURERS GUARANTEES / WARRANTIES
Some electrical items such as washing machines and vacuum cleaners have warranties and guarantees beyond the standard 1 year. Information is supplied with the products and you must register details with the manufacturer to enable the extended cover. Should any problem occurr during the extended cover period, contact the manufacturer and quote the guarantee / warranty number.
